Mars Chocolate Bringing Jobs to Topeka with State of the Art Manufacturing Facility

WASHINGTON – It was announced this morning that Mars, the manufacturers of household names like M&M’s, Snickers, Twix, Milky Way and many other confectionary, pet food and other products, will be opening a new manufacturing plant in Topeka, KS.  The $250 million manufacturing facility will bring hundreds of jobs to the area, and will begin manufacturing M&M’s and Snickers brand candies in 2013.

Congresswoman Jenkins released the following statement upon the announcement:

“I am so pleased to welcome the good people at Mars to the great state of Kansas. This is a great day for the Topeka community and the state of Kansas.  Soon after his inauguration, Governor Brownback made it clear that Kansas was open for business, and today’s announcement demonstrates that he has truly begun creating a climate of growth that will bring good jobs into our state.  I want to congratulate the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, GO Topeka, the Topeka Public School system, and the Topeka community for all their hard work making Topeka so welcoming to new business, and of course I want to thank Mars for investing in our community.  M&M’s have always been my personal favorite, and knowing that they will now be bringing jobs to Kansas makes them even sweeter.”
