Jenkins Visits Columbus and Parsons During Congress to Kansas Tour

WASHINGTON – Wednesday, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins visited Columbus, Kan., and Parsons, Kan., to host listening sessions as part of her Congress to Kansas tour. The discussion topics covered the economy, government regulation, the budget, Medicare, and rural healthcare. The Congresswoman gave the following statement after her visit.

“It was great to hear from folks in Parsons and Columbus today, and their concerns especially about rural healthcare and government regulation.

“Government regulations have a dramatic effect on businesses and their ability to create jobs. Folks are looking at all this red tape, and they don’t know where to go for help or how to navigate all the rules in order to comply with new government regulations.

“Even on the personal level, it is disturbing how much the government overreaches to influence our daily lives. When businesses spend more time and money to comply with enormous amounts of government regulation, we see fewer jobs and lower wages for our workers and their families. Budgets are already tight in this weak economy. We don’t need over-burdensome regulations making things harder for folks.”
