Jenkins to Host Second Annual Veterans Resource Fair

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins is hosting a Veterans Resource Fair in Topeka on Saturday, March 19, 2011.

“The men and women who serve in our nation’s armed forces sacrifice a great deal in order to protect each of us from harm,” Jenkins said. “They deserve our support when they return home, and I am hopeful that veterans, active military, reserve component members and their families will all join us for this year’s Resource Fair to learn more about all of the services available to them.”

The event will be held at the American Legion located at 3029 NW US Highway 24 in Topeka. Congresswoman Jenkins and her staff, as well as representatives from organizations that provide assistance with housing, health care and job placement for our nation’s veterans will be on hand from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. For more information about the Veterans Resource Fair, visit Congresswoman Jenkins’ website at www.lynnjenkins.house.gov/veteransfair.

Jenkins continued, “My top priority as your Representative in Congress is to serve the people of Eastern Kansas. Serving veterans is an important aspect of that goal, and I have two full-time staffers in my Topeka office who served in the military and now handle veteran and military issues.  I hope this fair will serve as another opportunity to serve Kansas veterans, thank them for their service and to ensure they receive all of the services available to them.”
