Jenkins to Host First Annual Government Contracting Fair

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins is hosting a Government Contracting Fair in Topeka on Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

“In these difficult economic times, we need to be giving our business leaders, especially those running small businesses, all the tools they need to succeed,” Jenkins said. “This Government Contracting Fair will help educate local Kansas businesses on how to successfully win government contracts with federal agencies, as well as state agencies and local municipalities.”

The event will be held at the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library located at 1515 SW 10th Avenue in Topeka. The event will take place between 9:00am and 12:00pm, with the first hour dedicated to education on contracting. Representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Government Services Administration (GSA) and a division of the Department of Defense known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) will be educating members of the business community on the basics of government contracting. The final two hours will be used as a meet and greet session, allowing attendees to get in touch with the represented federal agencies about contracts and any other pieces of information the agencies have available.

Congresswoman Jenkins and her staff will be on hand from 9:00am -12:00pm to provide any additional assistance. For more information about the Government Contracting Fair, visit Congresswoman Jenkins’ website by clicking here.
