Jenkins: The House Will Remain Focused On Enacting Policies That Help All Americans Find A Good Job

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Today,at a press conference with Republican leaders, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) discussed the House plan to build an America that works. As college students prepare to find their first job, a recent survey showed that two-thirds of Americans say now is a bad time to find a quality job. Instead of recruiting basketball celebrities to sell ObamaCare, the president should be working with House Republicans to improve our economy so they can actually afford healthcare.

Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02):

“Spring has arrived, although you couldn’t tell it  because of the weather outside today, and along with Spring comes a whole lot of college graduations. My daughter will be walking across the stage, graduating from college in May. This can be a very stressful time. These students and their families have invested a lot in their education and they deserve some great options once they graduate.

“Unfortunately, according to a new Gallup survey less than one in three Americans say now is a good time to find a quality job. Gallop noted, ‘When two-thirds of the population says it is a bad time to find a quality job, this clearly does not describe an optimal economic environment.’

“Now we’ll probably see the president out this week selling his healthcare to these young people during March Madness. But instead of recruiting celebrities to sell this flawed legislation, what the president should be doing is working with House Republicans to improve our economy so that we can make sure healthcare is affordable to these young people.

“The House has already passed dozens of pro-growth jobs bills on energy, job training, education, regulatory reform, and innovation, and we will remain focused on enacting policies that help all Americans find a good job.”
