WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins released the following statement after voting for the fiscal year 2010 Department of Defense appropriations bill. The legislation passed in the House by a vote of 395-34.

“The main responsibility of the federal government is to keep the American people safe from harm. It is, therefore, critical to ensure our military has every resource it needs to be successful. I voted for the defense appropriations bill because it includes necessary funding for national security needs as well as resources to continue our military efforts abroad and here at home.

“It is our obligation to ensure the men and women in our armed services have what they need to do their jobs. With a strong military presence in Eastern Kansas, I will always support our troops and do all I can do ensure their success.”
