Jenkins Supports Efforts to Bring "Fairness Doctrine" to the Floor for Vote

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins released the following statement after supporting an effort to bring the Fairness Doctrine to the floor of the House of Representatives for an open debate and vote. The effort was blocked by a vote of 238-174.

“Today Speaker Pelosi shut down the process again by refusing to allow the House to debate an amendment to block funding for the so-called Fairness Doctrine,” Jenkins said. “Time after time, the Democrat Majority has shut down the debate of important issues from even being heard on the floor. She is the Speaker of “the people’s house,” and it’s high time she allow the democratic legislative process to work like it has for the past 233 years. Whether you support the Fairness Doctrine or oppose it, as I do, I would think that we could all agree that it at least deserves a debate and a vote.”
