Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) issued the following statement regarding her efforts to protect sportsmen’s rights to use traditional ammunition and fishing tackle from unnecessary and burdensome Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations:

“As a proud member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, a bi-partisan group of Senators and Representatives who work to protect the interest of America’s sportsmen and advance sound wildlife management policy, I have strong concerns about attempts to ban traditional lead ammunition and fishing tackle.  This effort, promulgated by the EPA and anti-hunting and fishing groups, seems to be a poorly disguised attempt to use unelected bureaucrats at a faceless government agency to weaken the Second Amendment,” Congresswoman Jenkins said.

“This is why I am an original co-sponsor of three bills, H.R. 1558, H.R. 1443, and H.R. 1445, that protect American’s rights to use traditional ammunition and tackle. Banning these common sporting tools would not only hurt sport hunting, but would also result in significant costs for consumers and businesses.  The hunters and anglers of Kansas have my pledge that I will continue to fight to ensure their rights are not trampled on by bureaucrats.”
