Jenkins Named to Financial Services Committee

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins was named to the House Committee on Financial Services, which oversees all aspects of the nation’s housing and financial services sectors.

The Committee has authority over the banking, insurance, real estate, housing and securities industries. Additionally, the committee is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Troubled Assets Relief Program, which became law in October, and the Auto Industry Financing and Restructuring Act. As a member of the Committee, Jenkins will participate in oversight hearings and legislative mark-ups and will meet with financial and economic officials and industry leaders.

“I am excited to join the Financial Services Committee,” Jenkins said. “I have spent my entire professional career working on economic and financial issues and am ready to work with the Committee on these topics. The economy is struggling right now. Another bailout that increases the role of the federal government and places more of a burden on taxpayers is not the right solution. I am committed to working with the other committee members to address the root of the problems facing our economy and to help get the recovery process rolling.”
