Jenkins Named Taxpayer Hero

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins was today recognized as a “Taxpayer Hero” for her voting record in the first session of the 111th Congress by the fiscal conservative group Council of Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW).

“I have worked hard over the past 19 months to restore fiscal accountability and responsibility to Congress, and I am honored to be recognized as a Taxpayer Hero for my voting record in 2009,” Jenkins said. “The fiscal path our country is currently taking is unsustainable, and I will continue fighting to change direction in Washington.”

CCAGW recognized 89 members of the House of Representatives as Taxpayer Heroes for their voting record in 2009. Congresswoman Jenkins received a 93 percent for her voting record in the first session of the 111th Congress.

Jenkins continued, “From introducing the Debt Accountability Act and leading the charge on the Republican earmark moratorium to introducing legislation to restore transparency to the congressional committee process and opposing wasteful government spending, I have worked each day since being elected to the House to restore fiscal responsibility in Congress. I will continue working with the rest of the Taxpayer Heroes and with all of my colleagues in the House to put our country on a fiscally responsible and sustainable path.”
