Jenkins Holds Open Office Hours in Topeka

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins released the following statement after hosting a successful and productive open office hours session in Topeka on Monday, March 7, 2011.

“It was so nice to see a great group of Kansans this morning at my second open office hours session in Topeka.  I met some fantastic Kansans, and we had some important discussions that I will be sure to remember when I return to Washington. I find these one-on-one meetings to be very helpful, and I hope they will continue to be well attended in the months to come.” Jenkins said.

“Listening to and serving Eastern Kansans is my top priority as your representative in Congress. One-on-one meetings, like we held in Topeka this morning, provide me with a chance to hear from constituents on a more personal basis.  If folks have casework issues, personal stories, or legislative concerns they may not feel comfortable voicing in a town hall forum these meetings provide an opportunity to do so.  It is an honor to serve the people of Shawnee County, and I look forward to our next listening session.”

Since January 2009, Congresswoman Jenkins has held Congress to Kansas events during congressional work periods to keep Kansans informed about what she is doing in Congress. Throughout this year, Congresswoman Jenkins will continue traveling to communities in Eastern Kansas to hold a series of listening sessions and mobile office hours.
