Jenkins Holds Listening Session in Manhattan

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins released the following statement after hosting a successful and productive listening session in Manhattan on Monday, June 20, 2011

“It was so nice to see a great group of Kansans make it out to our listening session this morning to discuss the role of the Federal Government in our lives and what Congress has been doing over the last several months.  We covered some good ground and I have several new ideas to take with me back to Washington.  It is clear that Kansans are very concerned about the nation’s perilous fiscal situation, especially our record high debt and deficits, and the lack of jobs,” Jenkins said.

“Listening to and serving Eastern Kansans is my top priority as your representative in Congress.  Today’s meeting in Manhattan proved again how important these meetings are to getting our country on the right track.  It is an honor to serve the people of Riley County and I look forward to my next visit.”

Since January 2009, Congresswoman Jenkins has held Congress to Kansas events during congressional work periods to keep Kansans informed about what she is doing in Congress. Throughout this year, Congresswoman Jenkins will continue traveling to communities in Eastern Kansas to hold a series of listening sessions and mobile office hours.
