Jenkins Does Not Miss a Single Vote in 2009

WASHINGTON – During the first session of the 111th Congress, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins did not miss a single roll call vote in the House of Representatives. She was one of only seven House members to make 100 percent of votes cast.

“Kansans sent me to Washington to make sure their concerns are addressed and their voices are heard,” Jenkins said. “A big part of my job is to take a stand and vote on every piece of legislation that comes before the House. I made it a priority to vote in each of the 991 roll call votes the House held this year and will do everything in my power to continue that record in 2010.”

The House of Representatives adjourned the first session of the 111th Congress on Wednesday, December 16, and will reconvene on Tuesday, January 12. In addition to fulfilling her responsibilities in Washington, Congresswoman Jenkins returned to Kansas every weekend to travel throughout Eastern Kansas meeting with constituents, touring small businesses, military installations as well as colleges and universities.

Jenkins continued, “Despite a hectic day-to-day schedule in Washington and travel complications trying to return to Washington after spending each weekend in Kansas, I am pleased I was able to cast a vote in each roll call vote in the House. While I voted against many of the major pieces of legislation that I believe would take our nation in the wrong direction, I remain hopeful that Speaker Pelosi will choose to work in a bipartisan manner in 2010.”
