Jenkins Disappointed with Budget Conference Report

“We should be focused on growing the economy, not the government.”

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins made the following statement after voting against the House and Senate Conference Committee agreement on the fiscal year 2010 Budget Resolution, which passed by a vote of 233-193.

“Today, the House agreed to a budget resolution to set the spending, taxing and borrowing guidelines for our nation, and I am very concerned it takes us in the wrong direction. We should be focused on growing the economy, not the government. I stand ready to work with both Democrats and Republicans in the House to reform health care to make it more affordable, develop clean energy, improve education and stabilize our financial industry. Unfortunately, this budget plan paves the way for bigger government and higher taxes, and it massively increases the debt burden this generation is putting on our children and grandchildren. My constituents in Kansas deserve better than this.”
