Jenkins Condemns Democrats' Budget Plan

“Gimmicks don’t hide that the Democrat’s plan nearly triples the public debt in ten years.”

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins made the following statement after voting against the Congressional Budget Resolution, which sets the spending, revenue and borrowing goals for Congress.

“The budget resolution that passed the House today spends too much, taxes too much, and it borrows too much. At a time when families across Kansas are being forced to tighten their belts and make sacrifices, it is deplorable that the Majority in the House of Representatives passed a budget resolution that mortgages our children and grandchildren’s future and grows the publicly held debt from $5.8 trillion to $17.3 trillion in the next ten years.  That is wrong and something I cannot support.

“One of the main responsibilities of Congress is to set the budget for the federal government, and during this recession, Congress should have passed a budget plan that eliminates wasteful spending, creates jobs and controls debt. The Democrat’s budget fails in all three areas.”
