Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02):

“The economic recovery is slow, hardworking Americans have less take-home pay and small businesses are drowning because of ObamaCare, but there's one area that just keeps growing – government and government abuse.

“The House is committed to fulfilling our constitutional obligation to provide aggressive oversight and protect the American people from government run amuck.

“When we learned that the IRS was improperly targeting conservative groups, the Ways and Means Committee immediately went to work to investigate this blatant attempt to restrict our freedoms. It is appalling that Americans could be targeted by an arm of the federal government based on their political beliefs, that donors could be targeted, that information could be leaked, and we must make sure every American’s right to participate and engage in civic debate is protected.

“This is one of the many provisions that will be included in Stop Government Abuse Week as the House takes on the task of restoring trust in the federal government and making sure this sort of behavior and abuse never happens again.

“Americans who work hard and play by the rules deserve our respect and our support, not more headaches, paperwork, and more government regulations to make times even harder.”
