ICYMI: Rep. Lynn Jenkins to Tout GOP Jobs Plan & American Energy in the Weekly Republican Address

Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, May 26, in conjunction with the House Energy Action Team’s (HEAT) 2012 American Energy and Jobs Tour.  House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), a HEAT co-chair, made the announcement earlier today on a press conference call touting the tour, in which Republicans are highlighting the impact of high energy prices and the need to remove government barriers to domestic energy production.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) applauded today’s announcement: “The American Energy & Jobs Tour comes at a critical time, with families and small business owners continuing to ask ‘where are the jobs?’ while having to deal with higher prices on everything from gas to groceries.  Lynn Jenkins, coming from one of the country’s top energy-producing states, will highlight how Republicans' Plan for America’s Job Creators gets government out of the way and unleashes the potential of America’s energy workers and small business owners.”

“This week, I was able to join my colleagues from across the country to highlight the importance of domestic, all-of-the-above energy production to the Kansas, regional and national economy, job creation and our national security,” Rep. Jenkins said. “We have vast energy resources in Kansas and across the nation.  If the House is successful in promoting our jobs and energy plans, America could see a manufacturing renaissance, with a corresponding hiring boom, led by our energy sector.”

Congresswoman Jenkins grew up on a dairy farm in Holton, Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan and Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, where she studied accounting and economics.  Following graduation, she became a Certified Public Accountant and practiced public   accounting in the private sector before entering public service in 1998.  Elected to represent Kansas’ Second District in Congress in 2008, she currently serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means, and sits on the Trade and Oversight Subcommittees.  She has two beautiful and brilliant children, Hayley and Hayden.

The text and the audio of the Weekly Republican Address will be released Friday afternoon and embargoed until Saturday, May 26 at 6:00 a.m. EST, when it will be available for viewing and downloading
