Congresswoman Jenkins, Whip McCarthy Applaud $404 Million In NBAF Funding

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) applaud the $404 million designated to the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) included in the omnibus appropriations bill that was introduced tonight and expected to be voted on this week. The omnibus appropriations bill is the result of the bipartisan budget agreement approved last month.

“From the day Congresswoman Jenkins stepped foot in Congress, she has been working diligently in public and behind the scenes to secure funding for NBAF,” said Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy. “Her support of the budget agreement last month gave the federal government the ability to appropriate the $404 million needed for this important National Security project and to see NBAF construction is completed as soon as possible. I want to thank Congresswoman Jenkins again for her efforts and for the tour she led me on in 2012 of Kansas State University and the NBAF site. After the tour, I was certain Manhattan was where NBAF belongs and its funding will continue to be a priority in the U.S. House.”

“I am extremely pleased the House omnibus bill will designate $404 million to NBAF.” said Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02). “This is great news for the Kansas economy, Kansas jobs, and confirms NBAF as a federal priority and a critical need for our nation. I want to thank Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy and House Appropriations Chair Hal Rogers for their strong and steadfast support of NBAF’s construction in Kansas.  This project has a history of broad-based, bipartisan support, and I will continue to do everything I can to support and move this bill forward.”
