Congresswoman Jenkins Urges CDC & FAA To Heighten Airport Screening Procedures – Including Travel Restrictions – In Response To Ebola

TOPEKA, KS – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement after signing a letter to the Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in regards to the serious threat of Ebola in the United States:

“The current Ebola outbreak is the most extensive epidemic of the virus the world has ever seen. With the rapid transmission of Ebola, and the hazard it poses to public health, I believe it is essential that travel restrictions and heightened airport screening guidelines be implemented immediately.

“I recently sent a letter to the Director of the CDC and the Administrator of the FAA encouraging their agencies to consider all possible scenarios of containment and prevention, including but not limited to travel restrictions and heightened screening procedures. The health of American citizens remains my top priority, and we must increase our precautionary measures and prevent the disease from further entering our country.”
