Congresswoman Jenkins Supports Bipartisan "Keep Your Health Plan Act"

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3350, the Keep Your Health Plan Act, by a bipartisan vote of 261-157, including 39 Democrats. This bill is about giving hardworking families some relief from the negative consequences of the President’s health care law, especially those who are losing their health insurance coverage they like as a result of this law.Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement after voting in favor of the bill:

“Millions of Americans are receiving cancellations letters informing them they will lose the health care plans they liked and that fit their health care needs. Many of them are now being forced to pay higher premiums for alternative, Washington-approved plans, including thousands of Kansans from places like Topeka, Pittsburg, Baldwin City, and Osage City, who have contacted me to tell their stories. The Keep Your Health Plan Act will help prevent even more families from being put in this same position.

“Before President Obama signed his law, he knew millions of people would lose their health plans, and he misled the American people for three years. Yet, he still plans to veto this bill to allow Americans to keep their plans. It is time to put people before politics and help the families who are struggling due to this unaffordable and unworkable law.”

This week, Jenkins spoke on the House floor to share a family’s story, from Osage City, Kansas, about their son losing his health care plan. Watch here.

Jenkins also joined House leadership to discuss how the Keep Your Health Plan Act could benefit American families, like the one who contacted her from Pittsburg, Kansas, about losing their health care coverage. Watch here.
