Congresswoman Jenkins Statement On Chairman Camp's Tax Reform Discussion Draft

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp released a discussion draft outlining his tax reform plan. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement regarding the discussion draft:

“Fixing our broken tax code is a foundational step to building a healthy economy and creating more jobs and more take home pay for hardworking Americans. Kansans deserve a simpler, fairer, and flatter tax code. Chairman Camp’s draft is a step forward and an opportunity to get input through an open and transparent process. Our tax code is complex and this is about getting feedback and having a real discussion about what tax reform can mean for families and job creators, not hiding behind closed doors and waiting to pass it before we know what is in it. The public discussion begins today.”

Please note:There have been three previous discussion drafts released by Chairman Camp covering international tax, small businessand pass-through taxation, and financial products tax. The last time Congress passed comprehensive tax reform in 1986, the road to President Reagan’s desk spanned over five years, with constant changes along the way.
