Congresswoman Jenkins on Parsons Land Transfer

WASHINGTON—This past weekend, Day & Zimmermann, Inc. (D&Z) announced they accepted the Army’s final sale terms for the property it occupies, formerly known as the Kansas Army Ammunitions Plant, in Parsons. They reported the contract was signed, unaltered, and forwarded to the Army. Congresswoman Jenkins released the following statement regarding the news:

“Although the deal will not be official until the Army accepts the signed contract, it is my hope that the Army will continue to act in good faith, expedite acceptance of the final sale terms, and bring more than seven years of negotiations to a close. Steps should be taken swiftly as the employees at D&Z and the Parsons community are eager to replace uncertainty with a renewed sense of hope and enthusiasm that this facility will begin to grow again and continue to provide the Army with the highest quality munitions.

“This process has gone on far too long, and I, like all involved, are eager to see it resolved. This is why, this morning, I sent another letter to Army Secretary McHugh requesting the Army reach a final deal with D&Z. The 150 employees deserve certainty and job security, and I will continue to follow the progress of this transfer and work to ensure it is completed.”
