Congresswoman Jenkins on BCBS Announcement to Continue Offering Canceled Plans

WASHINGTON – Today, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas announced it will allow consumers to extend their individual and small group benefit plans that the administration deemed inadequate under ObamaCare's new requirements. Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement in light of the news:

"This is good news for the nearly 10,000 Kansans who liked their Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, and did not want to lose them at the end of this year thanks to ObamaCare. Unfortunately, this is only a band-aid for a badly broken law. The president's latest exemption only allows people to keep these plans temporarily - for one year. It means these folks will still have their plans canceled at the end of next year."

NOTE:The House has continued to put pressure on the administration by sharing stories from their home districts about Americans being negatively affected by ObamaCare. Last week, the House passed H.R. 3350, the Keep Your Health Plan Act, with 39 Democrats voting in favor. This bill would allow all Americans to have access to these health care plans grandfathered in through exemptions from ObamaCare.
