Congresswoman Jenkins: Everyone is ready to put an end to these manufactured crises, and we intend to do just that today to avert any kind of a shutdown.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Conference Vice Chair Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) joined Pimm Fox on Bloomberg Television’s “Taking Stock” to discuss the House Republicans effort keep the government open, and give all hardworking Americans the same exemption from the president’s health care law that the president has already given to big business.

Excerpts from Vice Chair Lynn Jenkins’ Interview:

“Everyone is ready to put an end to these manufactured crises, and we intend to do just that today to avert any kind of a shutdown. House Republicans will once again act, and send a bill to the Senate and it will be up to them to be responsible this evening.

.....

“We wouldn’t even be up against this tight of a deadline had the Senate bothered to show up to work this weekend. As you know they took a long weekend in the midst of a government shutdown, while members of the House were here working. They are trying to run the clock out.

.....

“What we are suggesting at this point is that there be no special carve outs for the very wealthy, the big business. The president has given waivers to big businesses as it relates to ObamaCare. He has given members of Congress special treatment, and so our only ask at this point is that we stop those carve outs and provide fairness for everyone. Put an end to the special carve outs for members of Congress, and let my constituents, the hardworking mothers in Kansas, the small businesses, get the same delay in the enforcement mechanism on the individual mandate piece.

.....

“It is just an issue of fairness. And if not now, when are we going to level the playing field and allow individuals all over this country to have the same treatment that this president has given members of Congress, big business and big donors.”
