Congresswoman Jenkins Discusses Flaws in the President's Healthcare Law

WASHINGTON - Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) used the president’s healthcare law as an example of why Americans should be weary of unchecked, government intervention in the lives of Kansans and their families on the House floor today. This afternoon the House will vote on legislation to repeal the healthcare law in full.

Congresswoman Jenkins:

“The president tells Americans to “trust” the government, but this week is loaded with reasons not to.

“Take the new health care law: We were told it would lower costs and increase access. Now, we find premiums could increase by 400 percent, and 7 million who had insurance through their employers, will lose it.

“This law will turn the IRS, caught in a scandal of its own, into chief healthcare enforcers. And it’s proven so unpopular, HHS Secretary Sebelius has resorted to soliciting contributions to promote ObamaCare from the same people this law authorizes her to regulate. If I got a call, I’d feel pressure to ante up. And in America that shouldn’t happen.

“Today, I’m proud to support repealing this terrible law to keep the IRS out of your healthcare, and to work on replacing it with a patient-focused alternative that will actually help families.”
