Congresswoman Jenkins Discusses Devastating Impact ObamaCare Will Have On Young Adults

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Conference Vice Chair Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) joined her colleagues in House leadership to discuss how Americans continue to be hurt by rising costs, loss of access, and policy cancellations brought about by the President’s health care law – especially young adults.

Vice Chair Lynn Jenkins:

“The letters continue to pour into our office, sad letters about people that are losing their health insurance.  Some of the saddest letters that I have read are from young people - young people that are just starting out in life.

“They are trying to pay their bills, pay their student loans, and find employment without having their hours cut in such a tough job market. Unemployment is at record highs for these young folks.

“The letters are telling the story. Their premiums are increasing, some in Kansas, close to 130 percent. Their out-of- pocket costs are going from $2,000 to $6,000. These young people can’t afford that.

“They already were on tight budget just trying to figure out how they are going to pay their bills and now have this added cost.  The American people deserve better.”
