Congresswoman Jenkins Discusses Campus Accountability & Safety Act At The University of Kansas

TOPEKA, KAN.–Today, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) met with Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little along with students and faculty at the University of Kansas as well as Title IX coordinators from Washburn and Kansas State University to discuss the bipartisan Campus Safety and Accountability Act and other campus sexual assault prevention initiatives. After the meetings, Congresswoman Jenkins released the following statement:

“I was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss this sensible, bipartisan legislation with students and faculty at the University of Kansas, and listen to their concerns about campus safety. As a mother, this issue has become very personal to me and while I believe the legislation can and should be improved upon, I am hopeful it will be passed into law to enhance training standards at universities and help victims access confidential advisors for support. College campuses should be places that foster learning and not places where the safety of young women or men are at an increased risk.”
