Congresswoman Jenkins: Administration Continues to Fail to Meet Critical Benchmarks in ObamaCare Implementation Process

WASHINGTON – This week the administration released the November enrollment numbers from the federal and state ObamaCare exchanges, and announced more delays in the implementation of the health care law. Congresswoman Jenkins released the following statement about the latest news regarding ObamaCare:

“The administration continues to fail to meet critical benchmarks in the implementation process of the president’s health care law with poor enrollment numbers, information errors resulting from a broken website, and a delay requiring insurers to accept applications through the end of December for coverage that begins on January 1, 2014. In the meantime, insurers are required to treat out-of-network doctors as in-network.

“Nationally, the administration has only met 30 percent of its enrollment target. This week’s report noted only 1,484 Kansans enrolled in ObamaCare this November. That brings the total number of Kansas enrollees to 1,855, which means more Kansans have lost their plans than enrolled in ObamaCare.

“These additional delays are a result of continuing difficulties in exchange enrollment. Physician networks are narrowing under ObamaCare, and this puts an additional burden on insurers to process applications from a broken website in an impossible amount of time.”

This week, Congresswoman Jenkins joined her House colleagues to send a letter to Secretary Kathleen Sebelius requesting more information about the glitches in transmitting health insurance applications from the exchange to the health insurers, which could cause Kansans to lose health insurance.
