Hall Votes to Help American Families, Lower Home Heating Costs

WASHINGTON, DC . . . This week, Rep. Ralph Hall (TX-04) voted in support of four bills to address the difficulties middle class families are experiencing with home heating costs. These bills offer comprehensive affordable energy solutions to meet Americans’ needs.

“It has been a particularly long and cold winter this year, and American families’ pocketbooks have been hit hard due to subsequently higher energy costs,” said Hall. “While I can’t control the weather, I can help lighten the load of costly energy bills for families by co-sponsoring and passing pro-energy legislation.”

Hall continued, “This week I was pleased to join House Republicans’ efforts to help lower energy costs by increasing access to ‘all-of-the-above’ domestic energy production, expediting permits, and limiting the Environmental Protection Agency’s overbearing regulations. Many of these bills were authored by the Energy and Commerce Committee, of which I am the senior member.”

“During tough economic times, these pro-energy bills help American families in a very tangible way. I will continue working to help make the lives of my constituents and the American people easier.”

Bills passed by the House this week:

H.R. 4076, Home Heating Emergency Assistance Through Transportation (HHEATT) Act of 2014
This bill allows propane to be more easily transported to areas experiencing shortages. It also extends the Department of Transportation’s emergency declarations through May 31, 2014.

H.R. 2126, Energy Efficiency Improvement Act of 2014
This is a package of four bipartisan bills from Energy and Commerce Committee Members that encourages energy and cost savings through new technologies and support of private sector innovation.

H.R. 3826, Electricity Security and Affordability Act (Congressman Hall is an Original Co-sponsor)
This bill limits the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from fossil-fuel powered electricity plants under the Clean Air Act.

H.R. 2641, Responsibly and Professionally Invigorating Development Act (RAPID) of 2013
This bill will create more abundant energy supplies by expediting federal permitting for construction projects, including 351 proposed coal, wind, nuclear, and natural gas projects identified in a 2011 study.
