WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop (GA-02) supported House Joint Resolution (H. J. Res.) 124, the Continuing Resolution (CR) for Fiscal Year 2015. The legislation continues funding for all government operations through December 11, 2014. The Export Import Bank of the United States will be authorized to continue operating until June 30, 2015. Also, the bill provides $88 million in additional funding to fight the Ebola virus outbreak in Western Africa.

Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) joined Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im) Vice Chair Wanda Felton for a roundtable discussion and tour of Thrush Aircraft in Albany, Georgia. The Ex-Im Bank, a wholly owned U.S. government corporation, is the official export credit agency (ECA) of the United States and finances and facilitates U.S. exports of goods and services while supporting U.S. employment. The agency is set to expire on September 30, 2014 unless Congress reauthorizes it.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard held a joint news conference Wednesday morning to announce that the U.S. Postal Service had signed a one-year lease to maintain its branch at the 345 W. Broad Ave. facility through Sept. 30, 2014.
