House moves quickly to protect veterans, Senate kills aid

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after the House voted to pass the bipartisan Honoring Our Promise to America's Veterans Act. 

"Today we acted to provide critical funding to protect the brave men and women who have defended American freedom. Our veterans should not have to pay the price for the Senate Democrats' inaction, and we're doing everything we can to make sure they receive their benefits. Republicans will continue to find areas of common ground so we can re-open the government, get Americans back to work, and make sure our veterans remain protected. The Senate needs to come to the negotiating table and stop playing games at the expense of the American people."
