U.S. Soldiers Train in Germany
U.S. soldiers provide security during a squad fire exercise at Hohenfels Training Area, Germany, Dec. 3, 2014. The soldiers are assigned to 1st Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment. Soldiers trained in squad fire movement drills while assaulting different objectives during the event.

Marines Conduct Aerial Refueling Training

U.S. Marines Train in Djibouti
U.S. Marines offload from an MV-22B Osprey aircraft during sustainment training in D'Arta Plage, Djibouti, Dec. 1, 2014. The Marines are assigned to Golf Company, Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the aircraft crew is assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 163 Reinforced, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the embarked 11th MEU are deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

Dr. Biden Hosts Holiday Event for Military Families
Military service members and their families attend a holiday reception at the residence of Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, in Washington, D.C., Dec. 3, 2014. Dr. Biden (not pictured) hosted the event to honor service members, veterans and their families. Guests included military families whose ornaments have decorated several holiday trees at the vice president’s residence. Senior military spouses, and guests from the Naval Observatory, Camp David and Full Circle Home also attended the event.

U.S. Airmen Participate in Hazardous Material Exercise
A U.S. Air Force airman roll plays as a simulated victim of a vehicle accident while the other airman acts as a first responder as part of a mission focused exercise on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 2, 2014. The airmen are assigned to the 18th Security Forces Squadron. The exercise tested Kadena emergency responders ranging from firefighters to security forces members and medical personnel on their ability to quickly administer life-saving techniques in a stressful environment.

U.S. Soldiers Conduct Slingload Training

The soldiers are assigned to 3rd Cavalry Regiment, Train, Advise, Assist Command - East and the helicopter crew is assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division's Task Force Talon, 3rd General Support Aviation Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. The soldier on the right uses a grounding rod to safely send static electricity created from the rotor blades directly to the ground while the soldier on the left connects the sling legs to the forward cargo hook on the helicopter.
