WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) Tuesday filed legislation blocking the Obama administration’s funding of the joint Palestinian Authority-HAMAS interim government.

The “Stop Funding Terrorism Act” blocks “any direct United States assistance, loan guarantee, or debt relief to the Palestinian Authority, or any affiliated governing entity or leadership organization.”  It is the House companion to Senator Rand Paul’s (R-KY) “Stand With Israel Act.”

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Stockman last week issued a letter to the White House urging President Barack Obama to levy sanctions on the Russian government in response to its invasion of Ukraine, and to supply Ukraine with the means to defend itself.

“Vladimir Putin will not stop at Ukraine, and Poland and the Baltic States have no realistic means by which to defend themselves. It is our geopolitical strategic interest to act now, before Eastern Europe is under a Russian thumb,” writes Stockman.

WASHINGTON -- Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) released the following statement Tuesday morning:

On June 5th I sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking whether any compensation was provided by anyone to the Haqqani terrorist network in exchange for the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal.

Yesterday I received a response from Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs Elizabeth King.  Secretary King states “ we (the U.S. Government) did not pay any money to secure Sergeant Bergdahl’s release.”

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36,) a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement Thursday:

The tragic targeting of a civilian airliner is a deadly reminder of the cold brutality of Russia’s illegal occupation.  Putin should immediately withdraw all forces from Ukraine, relinquish all claims over Ukranian and Crimean territory and hand over any and all troops who have committed war crimes.  Russia should also relinquish the plane’s flight data recorders and hand them over to a neutral third party.
