Paulsen Appointed to Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee

Washington, D.C.– Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) has been appointed to the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade for the 114th Congress. The Trade Subcommittee oversees bills involving reciprocal trade agreements, tariff provisions, and other policies relating to importing and exporting. The Subcommittee plays a vital role in trade matters, including guiding current negotiations for trade agreements such as the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Congressman Paulsen is also co-chair of the bipartisan TTIP Caucus.

“I look forward to helping craft an ambitious trade agenda that will break down regulatory barriers and increase American access to foreign markets,” said Paulsen. “Over 750,000 Minnesota jobs are connected to trade and I want to see more exports to help our workers, farmers, and manufacturers.”

In addition, Paulsen will continue to serve on the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures, which has jurisdiction over federal tax policy.

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
