Rep. Paulsen Comments on President Obama’s Budget Proposal
Budget Projects Record $1.6 Trillion Deficit in FY 2012

Eden Prairie, MN – Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) today released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s budget proposal which projects a record $1.6 trillion deficit for FY 2012:

"This budget, with its record $1.6 trillion deficit, is a disappointment for the majority of Americans who want their leaders to put an end to wasteful Washington spending,” said Rep. Paulsen. “If the President is serious about ‘winning the future,’ he'll have to do more than propose a trillion dollar deficit for the fourth year in a row. Our country can no longer afford the status quo of borrowing 40 cents on every dollar we spend; we need to cut up the credit card and cut spending so that we can create jobs and grow the economy.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Korea-U.S. Free Trade Working Group and co-chair of the House Medical Technology Caucus.
