Rep. Paulsen Commends President Obama for Strengthening Ties with India

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) offers his support for President Obama’s overtures to strengthen ties with India.  Today the administration announced its intention to relax restrictions on exports of dual-use technologies to India.  Dual-use technologies and products can be used for both civilian and military purposes.

“I commend President Obama for lifting restrictions on dual-use exports to India,” said Rep. Paulsen. “This important step to lift controls on advance technologies to India signals the growing trust between our countries.”

President Obama also announced his support for an Indian seat on the UN Security Council.  India is currently at the beginning of a two-year rotation on the Security Council, which works to maintain international peace.

“India is an important ally and strategic partner of the United States. As the two largest democracies in the world, we must continue to strengthen cooperation between our economies and fight to reduce barriers to trade,” said Rep. Paulsen.

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, is a member of the House Financial Services Committee and co-chair of the House Med Tech Caucus.
