Washington, D.C.– Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) applauds Mall of America’s for its continued commitment to safety. Today the Bloomington, MN retail center launched the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign, as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s national public awareness initiative.

“Mall of America has made great efforts to ensure the safety and security of the Mall’s many visitors and staff,” said Rep. Paulsen. “The implementation of the ‘If You See Something, Say Something’ campaign is a prime example of the Mall’s pro-active approach to safety and its commitment to protecting the thousands that visit Mall of America every year.”

“Homeland security begins with hometown security, and every citizen plays an important role in ensuring America’s safety,” said Secretary Napolitano. “The ‘If You See Something, Say Something’ campaign will provide the citizens of Minnesota and the many shoppers and visitors to Mall of America with the tools to identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to the proper law enforcement authorities.”

The “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign, is a simple and effective program to engage citizens to identify and report specific indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to the proper law enforcement authorities. The campaign was originally implemented by New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority and has since been expanded to other parts of the country. Additionally, the program is scheduled for Minnesota-wide expansion, continuing with Minneapolis and St. Paul.
