Paulsen Wins ‘Gold Mouse' Award for Citizen Engagement on Social Media

Washington, D.C.– The Congressional Management Foundation (CMF) presented Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) with the ‘Gold Mouse’ award for citizen engagement on social media. The CMF cited Paulsen’s innovative correspondence videos where he gives legislative updates and fields questions that constituents have called in or sent in via snail mail, email, Facebook, or Twitter. Only 10 members of the U.S. House of Representatives were presented with the social media award.

“My correspondence corner video conversations are a great way to communicate with the folks back home while I’m in Washington,” said Paulsen. “Technology continues to make it easier to hear the thoughts and concerns of Minnesotans, and I’m always looking for new tools to converse with the people I represent.”

Congressman Paulsen’s videos were featured in a recent edition of Roll Call about social media improving transparency and accountability in Congress—mentioning that he even fields questions from constituents who disagree with him. Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
