Paulsen Votes to Delay Harmful ObamaCare Provisions

House Passes Bills Delaying Employer and Individual Mandates

Washington, D.C. – Representatives Erik Paulsen (MN-03), member of the House Ways and Means Committee, released the following statement after the House voted to delay major provisions included in the President’s new healthcare law. The first House vote today would delay for one year the implementation of a key provision known as the employer mandate, which required employers with 50 or more workers to provide healthcare coverage. The second vote today would delay for one year the individual mandate which forces American families to purchase healthcare insurance or pay a fine. Rep. Paulsen is an original cosponsor of both bills.

The Administration recently announced a one year delay of the employer mandate through a blog post on the Department of Treasury website.

“From the beginning, it was clear to many Americans that Obamacare was far too burdensome and bureaucratic to be successfully implemented -- and now it appears the Obama administration is admitting they have a problem,” said Rep. Paulsen. “This legislation is a step in the right direction and will ensure families and individuals get the same relief President Obama afforded big businesses. If businesses get a break from Obamacare’s mandate, hardworking taxpayers and families should too.”
