Paulsen to Participate in Annual Congressional Baseball Game Wednesday

Freshman Congress to play in annual contest held at Nationals Park

WASHINGTON – Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) will be participating in the Congressional Baseball Game taking place this Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00 p.m.  The game, an annual contest between Republicans and Democrats serving in Congress, will take place at Nationals Park – home of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals.  Paulsen will be wearing the jersey of his alma mater, St. Olaf College, with the number three to represent the Third Congressional District.

“This game will be a great chance to engage in some friendly competition with my colleagues,” Paulsen said.  “Playing in a Major League ballpark will be an amazing experience.  As a rookie, I just hope to contribute and not make any mistakes while I’m out there.”

The game began taking place informally in 1909, with Republicans winning in nine of the last ten years.  Proceeds from the game will benefit the Washington Literacy Council and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
