Eden Prairie, MN – Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) today announced he will host two identity theft seminars for Third District seniors and other residents on Tuesday, June 1st in Maple Grove and Champlin.  The events will feature tips for preventing identity theft and other financial crimes, with officials from the U.S. Secret Service, the Minnesota Financial Crimes Task Force, and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division participating.

Financial crime is one of the fastest growing crimes in our country and senior citizens are among the most targeted groups. In total, the Federal Trade Commission estimates as many as 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year.

“There are thousands of victims of identity theft every single day and battling these terrible crimes begins with educating the public,” Paulsen said.  “I’m pleased to bring together experts who can educate seniors and others about preventing identity theft and being prepared in case it ever it happens to them.”

Details on the seminars are below. Constituents with questions can contact Dan Wick in Congressman Paulsen’s office at dan.wick@mail.house.gov or by calling by calling (952) 405-8510.   You can also RSVP on Paulsen’s website HERE.
