Paulsen Statement on Passage of Budget Agreement

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) issued the following statement after the House passed the budget agreement reached between House and Senate Budget Committee Chairmen Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Patty Murray (D-WA):

“I am disappointed with the agreement, and wish it did more to address our nation’s long-term fiscal problems. But while modest in scale, it represents a concrete step in the right direction. By cutting spending in a smarter way and permanently reforming mandatory spending programs, this agreement is a sign that deficit reduction can be achieved by making real spending cuts and reforms without raising taxes on American families and small businesses.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, the bicameral Joint Economic Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
