Paulsen Statement on Invitation for Mexico to Join Trans-Pacific Partnership

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 18th, 2012

Paulsen Statement on Invitation for Mexico to Join Trans-Pacific Partnership

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03) today issued the following statements in response to the announcement of the invitation for Mexico to join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations:

“I welcome the invitation of Mexico to take a seat at the TPP negotiating table. Mexico is Minnesota’s fifth largest export destination – with exports of $972 million in 2010 – and their valuable participation should result in greater benefits to American workers and job creators. Mexico’s inclusion in the TPP conversations will allow U.S. companies to leverage existing supply chains and create jobs here at home.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee. He is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus and the U.S.–Korea Free Trade Working Group.
