Paulsen Kicks Off Second Term as the 112th Congress Convenes

Washington, D.C. – Today Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-03) was sworn into the 112th Congress by House Speaker John Boehner. Paulsen’s second term brings with it a new Republican majority and an assignment to the House Ways and Means Committee.

“A few short weeks ago, a frustrated electorate headed to the polls in hopes of changing the tone and tenor of Washington. Today, the work begins to do just that,” said Rep. Erik Paulsen. “I’m excited to be part of a new majority that promises to deliver more transparency and accountability to Washington.”

“Now the real work begins. It’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work on turning our economy around. It’s time to usher in an era of fiscal discipline and responsibility, put an end to wasteful Washington spending and institute pro-growth policies that create jobs.”

“In the coming year I hope that we can provide economic stability for Minnesota’s small businesses, lessen the burden on those who manufacture life-saving medical devices and technologies, and find new markets for made-in-Minnesota goods.”

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, and is co-chair of the Congressional Korea-U.S. Free Trade Working Group and co-chair of the House Medical Technology Caucus.
