Paulsen Commends Signing of Protect our Kids Act into Law 

Washington, D.C. – Representative Erik Paulsen (MN-03), released the following statement after the President signed the “Protect our Kids Act of 2012,” into law. The legislation, which Paulsen co-sponsored and held hearings on as Acting Chairman of the Ways and Means Human Resources Subcommittee, establishes a commission to study data on child deaths due to abuse and neglect, review current policies in place, and recommend a comprehensive strategy to reduce child fatalities from abuse and neglect.

“I want to thank the President for signing the Protect our Kids Act into law. I look forward to working with leaders of the House and Senate to ensure this commission comes together to begin the important work of decreasing childhood deaths from abuse and neglect.”

Last month, as Acting Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Resources, Rep. Erik Paulsen held a hearing to examine the bipartisan Protect our Kids Act. During the hearing the committee heard from multiple witnesses, including former Minnesota 3^rd district Congressman Bill Frenzel. 

Paulsen, a champion of small business and advocate of free enterprise, entrepreneurship, and innovation, currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and is co-chair of the Congressional Medical Technology Caucus.
