Washington, D.C. – As the states of Minnesota and Louisiana anxiously await Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, Congressmen Erik Paulsen (MN-03) and Steve Scalise (LA–01) today placed a wager on the results of the game.

Paulsen offered Scalise a lunch of Minnesota’s most famous fish, the walleye, as well as a crock pot of Minnesota wild rice for his staff if the Saints win.  Scalise is offering Paulsen the Louisiana staples of alligator sausage and blackened redfish, as well as a pot of seafood gumbo for his staff if the Vikings prevail.  Paulsen and Scalise, who are roommates in Washington, D.C., have established a friendly rivalry during the current NFL season, as their respective teams climbed to the top of the NFC.

“The Saints have had a great year, but they haven’t faced Adrian Peterson, Brett Favre and the Viking’s defensive line yet,” Paulsen said.  “After Sunday’s game, the only thing Saints fan will be able to look forward to in February is Mardi Gras.  Skol Vikings!”

“The Saints are playing great football right now and after Sunday's game in the Dome, Brett Favre may be coming to Congress looking for a bailout,” Scalise said.  “Unfortunately I won’t be at the Dome this week, but I’ll still be yelling loud as part of the Who Dat Nation. Geaux Saints!”
The NFC Championship game kick-off is scheduled for 6:40 EST/5:40 CST on Sunday evening.
