WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S House of Representatives passed legislation that contained a provision co-sponsored by Congressman Erik Paulsen (MN-03) that provides free postal benefits to the families of our service men and women who send mail to their loved ones while they are deployed.   The Home Front To Heroes Postal Benefits Act was included as part of the National Defense Authorization Act, which passed the House on a broad bipartisan vote of 389-22.

“The families of our service members, in a very tangible way, serve alongside their loved ones throughout their deployment,” Paulsen said.  “This bill is just one small, but important, way we can help them stay in touch with their loved ones when they are far away from home.  I was proud to join so many of my colleagues in passing this measure today.”

Paulsen joined bill sponsors Congresswoman Kathy Castor  (FL-11) and Congressman Gus Bilirakis (FL-09) in pushing for this measure, which recognizes the integral role that care packages and communication from home plays in boosting the morale of deployed service members.
