Stockman challenges Obama to come to Texas, ‘where I will teach him how to create jobs’

The Houston Chronicle's Joanna Raines reports, in part:

In the past 48 hours, the Obama administration announced that unemployment had risen to 7.9 percent and that the president will be discontinuing his jobs council.

For Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Friendswood, the latest jobless numbers are an indication that Obama is giving up on economic growth. Yesterday, Stockman released a statement chastising the decision to shut down the jobs council.

“Rather than address our worsening economic crisis, President Obama shut down his Jobs Council today so he won’t be distracted by the economy,” Stockman said Thursday.

Today, Stockman has come up with a solution in the form of Southern hospitality. In an effort to renew the president’s faith in the economy, he issued an invitation  for the president to come to Texas to learn a thing or two.

“I am challenging Obama to come to Texas, where I will teach him how to create jobs,” Stockman said. “Unlike Obama’s economy, ours is booming.  Spending cuts, small government and light regulations are the fuel that have the Texas economy roaring.”

We’re not sure how cordial Stockman’s greeting would be — after all he’s suggested that Obama should be impeached over his executive orders on guns — but they would have plenty to debate...
