Congressman Luke Messer Named 'Taxpayer Hero'

WASHINGTON—The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has named Congressman Luke Messer a “Taxpayer Hero.”  According to the organization, Rep. Messer earned this distinction because his voting record during the first session of the 113th Congress helped to protect and save taxpayer money.

“I’m honored to be named a ‘Taxpayer Hero’ by Citizens Against Government Waste,” said Congressman Luke Messer.  “I am trying to bring a little Hoosier common sense to Washington's spending decisions.  We should never forget that every dollar spent in Washington is either taken from today's taxpayers or borrowed from future generations.”

CCAGW scored 80 votes in the House of Representatives.  The organization rates Members on a 0 to 100% scale.  Members are placed in the following categories:  0-19% Hostile; 20-39% Unfriendly; 40-59% Lukewarm; 60-79% Friendly; 80-99% Taxpayer Hero; and 100% Taxpayer Super Hero.  Congressman Messer scored a 90%.  The average House Republican Member score was a 79%.  The average score for all House members, Republican and Democrat, was 48%.
