House App Competition: Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academic Challenge

For the first time in congressional history, the U.S. House of Representatives is holding a "House App Contest" designed to encourage high school students nationwide to use their creativity to inspire new apps for a mobile, tablet, or computer devices in the Congressional Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academic Challenge.

The "House App Contest" is open to all high school students in New York's 8th Congressional District.  Students participating must submit their app source code between 12 PM EST February 1st and 12 PM Eastern Daylight Time on May 31, 2014.  Included should be a YouTube/Vimeo video explaining the app itself and what they learned through this competition.

Can I Participate?

1.     Members of Congress must opt-in for their district to participate in this competition.  If a Member does not opt-in, constituents in their district will be ineligible to participate.  Find out if I am eligible.

2.     The Competition is open only to high school students who reside in a participating district or who are eligible to attend public high school in that district.  Individuals submitting on behalf of teams must meet the eligibility requirements for individual Contestants
